His father was a test pilot at «Ferris Aircraft» and died during one of the flights. Inspired by his father's example, Harold joined the United States Air Force and later joined the same company as his father in the past. ㅤㅤㅤDuring one of the training flights, Harold was carried into the desert by a beam of green energy to a crashed alien ship, where the dying Abin Sur, a member of the Green Lantern Corps, gave him his power ring and a lantern to charge the ring, since the ring itself chose him, seeing in him «the ability to overcome great fear». After Jordan was sent to the planet Oa — the headquarters of the Green Lantern Corps, where he trained and prepared to become one of the defenders of the Universe.
